Today, Cisco announced its intent to acquire Astrix Security. This is a defining moment for our company, our team, and the category we helped build.

The Problem We Set Out to Solve

We founded Astrix with a clear conviction: the identities and credentials powering modern enterprise systems — API keys, service accounts, OAuth tokens — were dangerously under-secured. These non-human identities were everywhere, growing fast, and largely invisible to security teams.

At the time, NHI security wasn’t a recognized category. There were no established playbooks, no market maps, no analyst quadrants. We built Astrix because we believed this was one of the most important unsolved problems in enterprise security.

That belief proved right. With the rise of AI agents, the problem didn’t just grow — it exploded. Every organization racing to adopt agentic technologies is relying on the exact same credentials we’ve been securing from day one.

What We Built

Astrix became the platform security teams turn to when they need to discover, govern, and protect every agentic and non-human identity across their environment, from provisioning to decommissioning, from policy enforcement to real-time threat detection.

We didn’t just build technology. We defined a category. And we earned the trust of security teams around the world who were looking for answers in a space where few existed.

Why Cisco, Why Now

Joining Cisco means Astrix now has the scale, the reach, and the platform to bring agentic and NHI security to organizations worldwide. Astrix’s capabilities will be integrated across the Cisco Security platform — including Cisco Identity Intelligence, Secure Access, Duo, and Splunk — to deliver end-to-end discovery, governance, and threat detection for every agentic and non-human identity and AI agent. Cisco’s unmatched visibility across identity, network, application, and infrastructure layers — combined with Astrix’s deep NHI and agentic security capabilities — creates an opportunity to protect enterprises at a level that simply wasn’t possible before.

We are now positioned to continue leading the way in solving one of the most important security challenges of our generation.

What’s Ahead

The gap between agentic capability and organizational readiness is widening. Closing it requires the kind of platform, reach, and expertise that this combination brings.

For our customers, nothing changes today. Your deployments, your support, and the team you work with remain fully in place. What is changing is the size of the opportunity ahead of us.

To the Astrix team — you built something extraordinary. To our customers and partners — you shaped this category alongside us. To our investors, you believed before most people even understood the problem.

We’re excited to fulfill Astrix’s mission and vision to its greatest potential with this next chapter.
